Starting Point.
At pool.down, we are the pioneers of at-home cold water therapy. Our story began at the University of Cologne, Germany, where three visionaries—Aurel Philipp Noah Hampl, Nicolai Trittmann, and Tom Nicolas Trebst—shared a passion for fitness, innovation, and wellness. Inspired by the ancient practice of natural cold immersion, we recognized the need for a safer, more accessible solution.
The Challenge.
One cold winter morning during the pandemic, as we watched people plunge into icy lakes, we asked ourselves: Why isn't there an easier way to harness these benefits at home? This question sparked our journey to challenge traditional methods—large, noisy, always-running ice baths—that were effective but impractical for most people. Determined to find a better way, we combined our diverse expertise to create a groundbreaking system that integrates seamlessly into any bath setup.
Redefined in San Francisco.
Aurel Hampl brought invaluable experience from his time in San Francisco and at UC Berkeley, insights that were crucial in shaping our innovative approach. Drawing from Silicon Valley's culture of cutting-edge solutions, we developed a system using the latest in wearable technology and AI, offering personalized and effective cold therapy sessions that transform how you recover, perform, and feel.
Our Mission.
